I believe God speaks directly to us through His word. If the Bible is read regularly, He will speak just the right words, at just the right time, directly to you. On the morning of the first full day we were in Ukraine, I read this from Psalm 133; “How good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity.” From the time we arrived there has been a strong sense of “oneness” of purpose. Although tired at the end of the day, we are not weary. The unity of our faith inspires, encourages, and energizes. When God speaks and I experience His truth, I trust Him more.
The thing that stood out for me today was the strength of the youth group at Islands Christian Church (ICC) here in Kherson. As you probably know, a main focus of our trip is to help ICC with a 3-day Youth Camp. Today is day number 2. The camp lasts from noon till 7pm and is non-stop. There are about 25 youth leaders ranging in ages from around 16-18. They are strong Christians and very talented. The communist influence is still ubiquitous here so churches are often looked at with suspicion, especially among the older people. The young people, though, are open to the message of Jesus and the Youth Leadership Team is not shy about sharing it. I have much respect for the Youth Pastor, Lyonia Matseyka. He is making a difference here.
If you have a moment, please pray that much good will happen at the last day of the youth camp (Friday).
