WHAT IS GLOBAL OUTREACH
If you’ve grown up going to church you’ve probably heard the term ‘Missions’ before. For many of us that brings to mind visions of things that make us pretty uncomfortable: living in jungles and eating things we’d rather not think about. If you didn’t grow up in the church it might make you think of ‘Bible-beaters’ preaching from street-corners. For this reason, most of us do not consider ourselves ‘missionaries’ – this is a call for the either incredibly brave or incredibly odd among us. At Compassion Christian we believe that God has a Global Mission – a great purpose that is for His Global Church…all of us. No matter who you are, what your gifts are, or where you live, Jesus’ command to ‘go and make disciples of all nations’ (Matt 28:16) is for every one of us. It’s a beautiful, adventurous, abundant life (John 10:10) that we don’t want any Compassion Christian to miss out on. For this reason, we’ve chosen to call our obedient response to this call ‘Outreach’. This encompasses every way our church is choosing compassion, loving our neighbor and introducing them to Jesus in our local communities and around the world. We support the work of faithful followers (who we call partners) caring for the marginalized among us and throughout the world in places where message of the hope of Christ is desperately needed through church-planting and mercy ministries.
WHAT IS FAITH PROMISE
A Faith Promise is an agreement you make with God to give a certain amount, either weekly or monthly, to the local and global partner ministries of our church. It is based on faith that the Lord will provide, and it is given first, just as our tithe, trusting God to meet our needs. The total Faith Promise pledges of our church family are used to plan our strategic impact for the next year, including our partners’ monthly support and funding for special projects.
WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY
Faith Promise is deeply biblical. It is rooted in God’s desire to be glorified in all nations and rests on three biblical truths:
- God has a purpose: world evangelism (John 3:16-17)
- God has a method: His people giving and going (Romans 10:14-15)
- God has chosen a resource: our simple obedient faith, which makes us willing to give even when it requires sacrifice (2 Corinthians 8:3-5)
WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE
Not everyone is called to vocational ministry, but all followers of Jesus are called to share in taking His message of love to the world! It’s the purpose and plan of our God. All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Jesus. It takes faith to believe God will provide for world missions through you. Together we can move mountains!
