GO DEEP Haiti Students
GO DEEP Teams are especially designed for mature students looking to go deeper in their relationship with Christ and His love for the Nations. We will spend time every day digging deeper into God’s Word and connecting with His heart for the lost, learning why we do short term trips and how they can have an eternal impact. Then we’ll get to put what we’re learning into practice in the mission field where we’re serving! When you go on mission with Jesus, you never come back the same. Join us!
You’ve probably heard of Haiti. It is the most poverty-stricken country in our Hemisphere and the Haitian people have endured unimaginable hardship. In 2010 an earthquake devastated the country, killing over 150,000 people and destroying the already fragile infrastructure. For many years Haiti has been an example of extraordinary humanitarian efforts that have sometimes succeeded and often failed terribly. It has been a testing ground for many ministries and one of the most difficult places for the Gospel to take root, in spite of the incredible need for the hope & compassion of Jesus.
This team will have two objectives. The first will be an experiential learning opportunity to see in a tangible way the joys and challenges of mission work among the materially poor. You will have the opportunity to experience a deeper understanding of the Biblical foundation for Missions and God’s plan of redemption for our world. Simultaneously, you’ll be able to see and experience in real life what you’re learning in Scripture. The second focus of our team will be to serve alongside the Haitian Christian Ministries (HCM). HCM has an “all consuming passion to transform Northern Haiti through the message of Jesus Christ”. They believe the hope found only in Christ has the power to transform lives, families and communities…. even a nation. They work to spread the gospel through:
- Preaching and Teaching the Word of God
- Planting Churches
- Meeting the physical needs of the people
You will have the privilege of choosing compassion and sharing the love of Jesus with truly the ‘least of these’.
For more information about this trip please email the Team Leader, Matt Rogie at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Note: Applications from juniors and seniors, student leadership and those who have participated in at least one other GO Student Team will be given priority. All applicants will be asked to submit a Spiritual Mentor Reference by a Compassion pastor, staff member or life group leader. Applying for a GO Team does not confirm your spot on the team. Once applications have been reviewed, you will be notified of your acceptance or status on a waiting list. If accepted, you will be asked to submit a $100 deposit which will confirm your position on the team.
