After waking up and getting ready for the day, we ate breakfast together and discussed the importance and power of God’s word. Josh told us how him and his daughter have been spending time in the word every night. He went on to say how crucial it is to turn to the Bible when we have questions – about anything.
Once we finished up eating and chatting, we helped the NewStory crew set up for the 10:30 worship service. This was anything from putting out coffee cups to setting up tables to hanging signs and all in between. People starting coming into Swift Elementary School, where Rich and Dory Gorman lead church on Sunday’s. Our team split up during service to sit with new people and get to know the ones around us that attend NewStory Church. After an awesome sermon about the importance of inviting people to our table and getting to know them on a personal level, we helped clean up and headed to the nearby beach area. There we watched as three people publicly displayed their faith and acted upon it through an act of obeying God through baptism. We all enjoyed a potluck lunch, and thanked God for such a beautiful day as we dove into fellowship with the people around us. After a time of rest, we came together as a team with Rich and Dori to complete Module 1 and discussed prayer and the huge power of prayer. Once we completed our first Module, we headed to do just what we had been talking about – pray. As we slowly walked to the restaurant we planned to have dinner at, we prayed silently or aloud in groups of three about anything from the people that were walking in the street to the apartments in that community. We ate dinner at Dak while enjoying wings, rice bowls, glass bottled Coke, and conversation with each other. We ended our day meeting together to discuss the plans for the soccer clinic starting Monday morning.
