Dzień dobry z Polski (Good morning from Poland)
We have safely arrived in Poland and are off to an awesome start! We arrived in Poland Saturday afternoon and were able to visit Warsaw for dinner with the other U.S. team from
Maryland. We then headed to the camp in Zakosciele and got settled in. On Sunday, we were able to worship with the Polish believers at their local church. I was also able to preach on Genesis 13 (Abram & Lot separate). It went pretty well though preaching through the translator is always an interesting experience! By me taking on the responsibility of preaching, the pastor who normally preaches was able to to take some time off with his family so I felt blessed to be able to help out in that way.
We are here to serve the staff of Proem however we can. They are in the end of a very long summer of back to back camps and so are very tired and worn out. But they continue to be filled with such compassion and joy despite being tired. I think this has much to do with the sense of community they have. They place relationships with one another on a very high level. Relationships matter more than ministry and as a result ministry continues to thrive.
We have also been hanging out with all of the kids. It is fun to try and learn their language and they laugh heartily when we completely mess up their language. There is one little girl who corrects my attempt at Polish pronunciation with a sassiness that I find is hilarious. It reminds me of my daughter Kaysie. Most of our team is teaching a workshop of some sort. Megan is using her degree in Physical Education to teach different American sports that the kids said they want to learn. Merline is teaching a fashion camp which is quite popular. ZhaoZhao and Kyle are teaching an arts and crafts class and I’m teaching an intro to Web Design class. It’s been a great trip so far and I’m sure will go by too fast.
We appreciate all prayers that you pray for our team, the staff of Proem and the kids, specifically that we would be lights to the little children here. That we would be like Jesus, allowing them to come to us and showing them love. Nothing happens in God’s kingdom apart from prayer! We send blessings back to you as well.
