This is Donna, let me share my heart with you a bit on our time here at BVSA, so far. Our team got off the plane running, and we have not slowed down yet! As the Johnson’s and Leiva’s took us quickly into their family here, we have bonded with these dear boys and the people of Buena Vista. A couple of days feel in our hearts as if we have known and loved these people and this ministry for years! Jesus has a way of bonding hearts so that time and distance is not a factor. That is the case with our Compassion Team.
Last night after dinner was a special time of praise and worship, with Brock and Mynor leading us in song, and then in retrospect of a day that filled and overflowed our hearts. Today, Friday, began with a Team devotional by Nathan, and a wonderful breakfast by Johanna (the Academy’s cook). We are fed WELL here! The morning was spent with the girls organizing the classroom, and our guys helping to repair and spruce up the BVSA grounds and buildings. We will eat another great meal soon for lunch; Bill has a devotional planned for the Rhino boys about being God’s Light in a dark word (with gifts of flashlights for all); and then – a highlight of the week – we get to go to a Varsity Rhino’s Soccer game, and cheer them on!
How much can our hearts hold in such a short time? I’d say a lifetime full. We are thankful for the blessing of serving for just a moment’s time, these beautiful people; this incredible ministry where God is making His Face known in a mighty way! The verse that won’t leave me as we continue to get to know and love these boys; the ministry; this village here: Greater is He who is in me, than he who is in the world! God’s army is strong and growing at BVSA! Please pray for Buena Vista and the Rhinos, for the anointed ministry that is here; for the godly leaders that the Johnsons and Leivas are raising up here among these boys at this Academy in Guatemala. We are so honored and excited to be here, where God is doing a mighty work!
