First thing this morning, God broke our hearts for what breaks His. Outside of Brioche (a breakfast cafe) sat an intoxicated man with severe leg wounds and two sticks for crutches. When we first saw him, our instinct was to give him money or other physical help to “solve his problems.” But the reality is, money would only make his problems worse because it would probably be spent on more alcohol.
One of the things we have learned on this trip is that money is a temporary fix to problems only God can solve. Considering that God is the only permanent solution to hurt in this world, our team decided that there was only one way we could help this man: We gathered in a circle around the man, extended our hands toward him, and prayed to the God who knows EVERYTHING he has gone through. We prayed that God would comfort him and send someone in his path to help with his physical ailments and addictions.
Abby gave her testimony for the very first time at the conference tonight and her story touched the hearts of many!
After the conference, we went to a high school to lead worship, give testimonies, and preach. Taylor gave her testimony, and Matt preached on the woman at the well to illustrate that Jesus is the answer. During the altar call, around 25-30 students (too many to count) came up front and made the decision to pursue a real relationship with Jesus Christ.
We are so thankful for the opportunity to be vessels in Rwanda. God is moving mountains, and it is a joy to watch!
