Today was our final day at the Catch Up School. It was tough to prepare ourselves to say goodbye to the children we have fallen in love with in such a short time. Once we got to the school, we spent time hanging out with the kids and soaking up our last hours with them.
We again performed a “concert” for the students, similar to the performance at the Kabuga school. The students clapped and danced along. Rebekah and Carlee led vocals while Daniel played keys.
After the singing and dancing, we huddled all the children in the courtyard and Carlee gave her testimony. She shared vulnerable experiences in her past and encouraged the students by telling them they could only find peace like she did through Jesus Christ. It was very inspirational as Carlee shared the gospel with much emotion and passion. Afterwards Malloy shared scripture and invited the students to act on what the heard and accept Jesus in their life. We found out later in the day that several students accepted Christ and we were so excited to see the life change in the students.
Following Carlee’s testimony, all the children went back to their classrooms. We prepared plates of food for each child and delivered them by hand to the classrooms. The children were so happy and thankful for what we did, but it was only possible due to the donations to go on this trip, so we thank everyone who supported the team financially. Your help enabled these students to have a hot meal. Most students don’t eat everyday, so serving them this way truly warmed the hearts of the team members.
We spent our final moments loving and hugging the students. Many team members fought back tears as we held the children close and told them how much we loved them. It was an emotional afternoon as we reflected on the past few days at the school. We loved every bit of it and will miss the students dearly. We are looking forward for the remainder of our time here and ask for prayers for the students of the Catch Up School.
