Monday after Carolyn and Lynne departed to return home, we began to work on up keep items at the pre-school run by the host family. We spent several hours making the school and living quarters inhospitable to rodents. Those that live in the school were grateful. They seem to be getting good use out having a tall guy here to work on ceilings and windows that are high up on the walls. Additionally, we spent time working out more efficient ways to make clean drinking water. At times I have been under the impression that native people have a tolerance built up to the organisms that are in the spring water that comes from the mountains, but this is not so, nobody is.
Over the past thirty-eight years since our hosts have been in this country there has been a welcomed progression from boiling all drinking water to filtering the water as it comes out of the tap.
Tuesday we did some more up-keep items in the morning. In the afternoon we went to the University to meet with students in the same setting we met with students on Tuesday of last week. The time for this week was clearly communicated last week as 2:30pm, but some of the staff at the university posted 1:30pm. There was a group gathered at 1:30 pm, and many left, but a group of students stayed and others came back at 2:30. The conversation was good for my group of students. During course of it seemed right to share about God leading me through the process of prayer and circumstances of finding my current job. As students who will be looking for employment soon, I think it was well received. We then had some fun practicing English in some impromptu situational role playing. We then as usual took some pictures and said goodbye. Please pray that the pictures and discussion (all very innocent and proper) will not be used to make claims that could detract from the planting of seeds that will grow up to faith in Jesus.
Wednesday (Today) we spent the morning moving refrigerators. The first obstacle was to hire somebody with a truck to help. But it was pretty cool because the two men that came with the truck would not let us help move things, so for most we took a break. Also after much prayer and phone pursuit by our host, the welder came by to fix the gate at the pre-school, and it is working well. We had plans to go to a school and work on English with elementary and middle school students, but God had other plans. We went to the school and found that none of the students were gathered. After we left the school, we went to the home our hosts are moving out of where the Thanksgiving celebration was held, and one of the college students who happened by and attended the Thanksgiving celebration came walking by again. He and our host talked and exchanged info. We believe he may be person of peace who could open the door for our hosts to meet many more students in open faith conversations. Please pray that the Lord Jesus will open a door. Thank you!
In Christ,
Dan
