Today is the first full day with the students here and the house is a full of conversations. It was so fun watching them come into supper last night as they saw friends from previous sessions and were once again reunited. I had at my table Oti Bunaciu who is a professor from Romania. He is a big man with a huge sense of humor. Made me laugh all during the meal. He actually has been to Savannah and stayed on the river front. He loved the Spanish moss and the old appeal to the city. We laughed because compared to Romania…Savannah would be a baby as far as age goes.
I also sat across from Sergei Gulcenco from Moldova. He works with an organization to stop Human trafficking. We sadly agreed with Atlanta being such a high area for this kind of thing we had something in common. I am amazed at how well some speak English and makes me want to learn Russian so that I can come back and really try to communicate better.
Today as I was doing my setting of the dishes or cleaning I would pray for all those that would be passing through or sitting at the table. They have sacrificed much to get here and I am so happy to be a small part of helping them!
