The flooding in Louisiana is described as the worst US natural disaster since Katrina. The catastrophic floods have left behind more than 60,000 damaged homes and thousands residents who have lost everything. These families are in need of compassion. You can provide the hope that they need.
GO
Manpower is desperately needed! The local volunteer response is unable to meet the incredible need and have asked for outside help. Also, the lack of national news coverage leaves these residents without help they desperately need.
We are partnering with Samaritan’s Purse serving Lafayette and East Baton Rouge areas. Volunteers are needed to sort through and salvage belongings, remove flooded debris, gut homes by removing soggy insulation and drywall and most importantly be there to love, listen, and minister to these precious residents who have lost so much.
Operation Blessing provides lodging, meals, tools and work assignments. Compassion volunteers are only asked to provide money for food to/from Louisiana. Volunteers must be 18 years or older.
There will be an informational meeting on Tuesday, August 30th at 6pm in Room 204 at the Henderson Campus for anyone interested in participating. The one week (Sunday-Saturday) trip is tentatively scheduled for September 11-17.
