This has been a remarkable week in the lives of some 140 children and many adults. In the beginning, a boy at camp here was just a kid in an Angry Bird tee shirt, but over the days, he morphed into a small person with a new knowledge of God.
We have played with the children. We did crafts with them. We cleaned their lunch room and stood back and watched them in awe. Many spoke or tried to speak English with us, and interpretation was sometimes needed.
We had the closing ceremony this morning, and it showcased the entire week from sports to the arts. The parents were blown away with the camp music and vivid videos. The best part for us was going on stage with the other Americans and strutting to a fast number. We left it all on the dance floor!
To all of you who sponsored any of us, helped with supplies or read our updates, we say thank you. This has been a success in countless ways.
On a personal note, this week has been a spiritual high for me. Jesus walks these grounds, and I saw His love, grace and footprints everywhere. I was baptized by the local minister and camp director this afternoon in the river that flows by the camp.
