Carlos’ wife, Jeanette, made it home today from a trip to the US. The team has been getting to know her throughout the day.
Today started with a devotional led by Jeff before breakfast. He discussed why we need to show compassion. He shared a story of his neighbor who has shown compassion by donating money for our team to start an addiction to Karen and Luis home in San Jose. Karen and Luis are such a blessing to this ministry in Ecuador. The team finished painting the nursery and two teams went out for visitations. Anna, Bud and Rebecca went into the school again today and had so much fun with the children.
We had an amazing community outreach today with a Baby shower for all the mom’s with babies twelve months and younger. Julie gave a great lesson why it is important for husband and wife to raise children with Biblical principals and to love Jesus. Julie told the women how Jesus loves them and how beautiful they are to him. Our ladies handed out baby clothes as a gift for coming. Bud provided some insight to the guest on the importance of the husband helping in the house, with the children, being the spiritual leader, and the importance of family memories. He said the dad needs to be fun and with that challenged Luis to a baby bottle drinking contest. Luis won by a drop.
While the Baby shower was going on, the men and young girls of our group held VBS and play time with the kids on the soccer field. Ashley was able to meet Elkin, the boy whose camp bracelet she had, today. The kids wore us out playing soccer, frisbee, jump rope, and catch. Fun time but we are all tired from the running around.
With the long day we had, we decided just to sit and talk. Discussions ranged from what we’ve done, what we can do for the team when we get home, who is going to come back, let’s go buy ice cream (which we did), bug bites, and many other topics. Long day ahead of us tomorrow as we finish our mission activities and prepare to head home tomorrow night.
