Hey everyone! I wanted to share a little part of yesterday that was really moving for me. So yesterday we all piled into our small bus and headed to a town about 15 minutes down the road. Once we got to the town, we got to visit little kids in a daycare/school. Of course I went straight to the babies and held a little boy until he fell asleep on my lap. Zach met a little boy who he really bonded with. I don’t think it was easy for him to say bye.. but he managed. After we left the school we headed over to this one old couples house and that’s really where I felt God tugging on my heart. Our translator/friend Elcedro, (I don’t know how to spell it) explained to us how the couple had to do all the work by themselves which includes: cleaning there house, cooking all the meals (which takes A LOT of work), going to work to have an income, etc.
They invited us inside and we all squished on the floor of there living room. As soon as they started to tell us about there lives my heart slowly started breaking for them. The man was about 89 while the women was very close to that. You could see how precious they were just by there faces and hugs. After a long while of translating and talking.. We finally prayed for the family and it was time to go. However, the old women started to cry and explained to us how she was very lonely and how her daughter and son haven’t seen her in a while. I tried so hard to not cry. I sat next to the women and she tried to tell me something but I couldn’t understand. I honestly didn’t want to leave her side yesterday. God really made me think about my life personally, and how I have so much and I just wanted to give everything to them at that moment.
Going back to the US will be hard because sleeping in my nice comfy bed at home, I know ill be thinking about her and how i would really be comforted her here in Ecuador. I hope to be able to talk to the couple again with a translator and maybe just tell her how much I personally cared for her and that if there was anything I could do to help them, I would.
