Well, all we can say is WOW! We have been here for nearly nine months now, and this past month has been by far the absolute craziest month of all our lives. For those of you that do not know, there was a horrible accident here where Paul was shot in the leg and only by an incredible act of God changing the situation, survived and is recovering very well! If you have not heard the story, Paul wrote about it here in our blog. Paul is already up, walking without crutches, the wound is completely healed up, and he is rehabbing every day to get back to running and playing with the boys here. It was a miracle we were all able to witness here, and the ways God has not only touched our lives, but the lives of those around us here and people literally around the world is incredible. We will never know, this side of heaven, the extent to which God used this incident for His glory. Words cannot begin to express our appreciation for all of the prayers that went out immediately that day, after my one phone call to our dear friend Christy Purvis. Within minutes, people literally all over the world were praying, and we have no doubt that God heard those prayers and completely changed the situation. Thank you all for your part in that and your continued prayers as Paul heals.
The Davis family is doing great! The accident has brought out family so much closer, and has allowed us so many incredible conversations and moments together with God. The girls just came off of a two-week vacation from school, which marks the half-way point of the school year. They are still trying to adjust to being in school over the summer, but I know they will be thrilled when they are off November, December, and January. Everyone’s language is coming along so well, especially the girls. They have really amazed us at the way they have all jumped in to school, culture, language, etc. Paul just wrote about it here. We are just so proud of them, and so thankful that God created them to roll with little things in life, like moving to Guatemala!
One area that we would like to ask for prayer in is our finances. When we originally made our budget, we had not planned on putting the girls in school. Once arriving, and really seeking God for direction, we felt He was leading us to put the girls in school. Despite it being a very hard decision, for me (Jessica) especially, we all fully agree it was without a doubt the right choice. They are thriving and a big part of that is school. We have been able to pay for school, thus far, with general donations that were made prior to our leaving the states, and with some Christmas money sent our way. We are not going to be able to sustain that much longer though, so we are praying for someone or some people to sponsor the girls’ schooling. For all four girls for one school year, it is approximately $6000. We know God has them there, and know He has the finances already worked out somewhere. Would you please join us in praying about this?
As far as deepStream Life and Guatemala, things are busy! We are completing a huge project this week of a team house here on property. We will now be hosting all teams and guests here in Buena Vista on the BVSA property in an incredible little house built by the 12×12 Project team. It will make it so much easier on our families to have everyone here on site, plus it will benefit teams in countless ways to be in our community the entire time they are here. We are excited to host our first team in there in just a couple weeks! The Academy is going so well, and we have all fallen deeply in love with each of the boys here. They have become family, and we look forward to working with them each and every day.
There is no way for me to update everyone on all that is going on here in one email. We ask that you always keep up with the comings and goings at our website: deepStreamlife.com in the Updates section. We thank you so much for your continued prayers, financial support, emails, etc. They make all the difference to us here, and we would not be able to do what we do each day without a big group of people like you behind us every step of the way.
