Looking back on today, I can’t help but just smile. Some of us were given the wonderful opportunity to watch the special needs children participate in their hipotherpay and ride horses. Isaac, a blind boy who cannot walk or stand on his own, shook my heart today and opened my eyes immensely. He was a little aggressive even though reserved, but as his father began to tickle his stomach I heard the most beautiful sound – his laughter. So much joy radiated off this child who has never even seen the light of day. It was so humbling to see how happy this child and parent is with nothing.
This child is not blind, but we are. We can get so caught up in the busyness and social ‘demands’ of this world that we sometimes fail to find the happiness in the little things. “The Lord is good to ALL, and his tender mercies are over ALL HIS works.” Psa. 145:9. Isaac is God’s precious work and God did not make a mistake, he made a jewel for this world and I know God smiles when Isaac laughs. God created Isaac blind to allow our blindness to be revealed. I pray that he will help you to open your eyes like he did mine. Happiness does not come from material things; it comes from the heart, and above all from the love of God to ALL.
