Today was a long travel day. We had an early start this morning with breakfast at 7am. What’s interesting is that we have now become accustomed to eating multi-grain bread with a slice of cheese and cherry jam on top. Who knew? Following our hearty meal we loaded the bus and headed north which brought us to the city of Sopot. The tri-cities of Gdansk, Gdynia, and Sopot are located on the Baltic Sea. The weather was expected to be good all day, and it was. Sunshine, blue skies, and only a few clouds. Highs in the 70’s. So, it was a perfect weather day for being tourists along with our new Jewish friends.
What a fun time it was strolling through Old Town Gdansk. The architecture…the canal… the cathedral…shops…the Ferris wheel…musicians playing in the open square. It was almost like having been dropped in the middle of a movie set.
The evidence of a time gone by, and the tragic history that our Jewish friends overcame are solid proof of God’s love and protection. They are a strong and resilient people. How like God to provide us with such a great day to further establish relationships with our Survivors as well as spend some fun time with them during their travels. We continue to pray God’s blessing on our trip and look forward to the next days.
