We’ve been overwhelmed by all the Lord has done in us and, by His grace, through us in this time. As we look to return home (and it’ll be an EPIC journey), we cannot move one step forward without looking back at all the Lord has done for us and how we’ll re-enter life-as-we-know-it differently for having been in Zimbabwe. Here are our lessons:
Bailey Newhouse—Kids are so important and valuable. When we work with kids a lot, we can tend to think that it’s enough just to keep them alive and healthy. But when the kids here smile at you, it’s as if you’re Mother Teresa giving cake. Jesus said to let the little children come to Him, and He wanted to bless them with love. That’s what I want to do.
Rob Railey—It’s amazing to me that people can have so very little in the way of possessions, but still have the most joy I’ve ever seen people have before.
Megan Railey—Community, family, and love are worth so much more than material wealth. It takes humility, but I want to make an effort to keep closer to family and I will not focus on the things I wish I had or don’t need—and to reach out to help those who have real needs.
Rob Conatser—God puts people together to do exactly what He wants them to do, and gives them every resource imaginable to do it. And no amount of planning and trying to make things fit our own ideal can ever come close to the breadth and depth of God’s ultimate plan.
