Day two was a success and the Sandy team is energized by how the Lord is moving in Breezy Point, NY! The team worked at the Metz house again where they tore out drywall, parquet floors, and cabinets. They spent time in prayer with the Metz and they were much encouraged. A second team was sent to help a family move furniture back inside their home. The wife still seemed a bit shell shocked by their experience and was obviously grieving the loss of things in their home that were dear to her. The couple was very thankful for the help and encouragement the team was able to offer.
One member of the team met a couple during the day and the woman asked him what would make people volunteer their time to help people they’ve never met? He replied that we do this because we love Christ and he loves us and asks us to love each other. She seemed blown away by his response and replied, “Yea, some of those churches will ask you to give a kidney!” Clearly she cannot fathom the love of a God that sacraficed it all for her. This is what this team is all about – sharing this great, unfathomable love…Praise the Lord!
